Consignment Manager – Outdoor Retail
We’re looking for a passionate, organized, and gear-savvy Consignment/Second Hand Manager to lead our consignment operations in the outdoor retail space. In this role, you'll be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, pricing, and managing a wide range of used outdoor gear—from backpacks and skis to climbing shoes and outdoor-focused apparel. You’ll serve as a trusted contact for our consignors and customers, ensuring high-quality standards and a seamless consignment experience. Key Responsibilities:
Consignment Intake & Customer Service
Evaluate and intake used gear from community consignors based on current condition, seasonality, safety, and brand standards, while staying within budget.
Explain consignment terms, commission rates, and return policies clearly to new and returning consignors.
Provide knowledgeable, friendly service to customers and consignors, both in-store and over email or phone.
Inventory & Gear Management
Tag and price gear appropriately based on condition, brand, retail value, and market demand.
Ensure accurate tracking of all consigned items using inventory software.
Rotate, refresh and reprice inventory regularly to optimize sales and shop space.
Sales & Merchandising
Collaborate with the retail floor team to merchandise used gear alongside new product offerings.
Adjust pricing strategies on aging inventory or seasonal gear based on demand and performance.
Operational Oversight
Track and report on sales and inventory.
Maintain updated used gear purchase agreements and documentation in accordance with store policy.
Work with the General Manager to identify opportunities for growth in the used gear program.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Train staff on consignment intake procedures, brand standards, and safety protocols for used gear.
Support store-wide goals around sustainability, community engagement, and circular gear economy.

Qualifications:
2+ years of retail experience; consignment or resale experience strongly preferred.
Deep familiarity with, and ability to carefully evaluate outdoor gear (e.g., apparel, camping equipment, skis, climbing gear). Examples of this could include experience working for an outdoor industry brand, in an outdoor industry retail setting, or perhaps guiding clients in a variety of outdoor settings and sports.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Customer service mindset with the ability to educate and engage a diverse outdoor community.
Proficient with point-of-sale and inventory software.
Physically able to lift and move gear (up to 50 lbs) and work on your feet throughout the day.
Bonus Points For:
Knowledge of gear repair, maintenance, or gear authentication.
Knowledge of Boulder-Denver resale / outdoor retail market
Experience using resale platforms or consignment software.
Involvement in local outdoor communities (ski clubs, climbing gyms, hiking groups, etc.).
Interest in sustainability and promoting circular economy practices.

Employment Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Salary Range: $26 to $29 per hour ($54K to $60K/year), based on experience and demonstrated knowledge and ability.
