Working in a co-managing capacity to hire, train, evaluate and motivate a team of individuals with the goal of providing an exceptional retail experience for our customers and a healthy and satisfying workplace environment for our staff.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Staffing
- Hire achievement motivated staff members using established interview
- Create work environment that listens to and is responsive to employee needs and
- Schedule and budget payroll according to store needs (weekly, hourly, seasonally).
- Provide and organize ongoing training on product, procedures, policies, and skills (group and individual).
- Perform employee evaluation and feedback based on specific employee behavior and performance – and use this to motivate staff through further training and collaborative behavior modification.
- Organize and direct interactive and engaging staff
Sales & Customer Experience
- Listen to and identify customers’ needs and provide an exceptional shopping experience
- Sell products that fit customers’ intended use, abilities, tastes, and budgets
- Sell accessories that will enhance customers’ outdoor experience
- Lead by example in performing all sales associate duties

Store Presentation and Operations
- Create, coordinate and maintain store appearance standards (folding, straightening, organizing, tidying, displaying) – with staff, buyers and other managers
- Know and train staff on store policies and procedures related to retail and rental sales
- Delegate and oversee retail, rental, repair shop, warranty/return and backstock/restock
- Theft management, computer troubleshooting, event assistance and special projects
Other
- Ability to learn our Point of Sales System for transactions and also for reporting / sales / performance analysis
- Availability to regularly work during peak retail business times, including holidays, weekends, evenings
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required Personal Characteristics & Skills
- Enjoy creating, working with, training, helping and motivating a team
- Comfortable in making decisions, asking for helping and raising company concerns
- Able to prioritize tasks/objectives and follow up to ensure successful completion
- Capable of observing behavior, skills and performance and use those observations to improve our staff and the retail
- Flexible with time and tasks
- Patient with and approachable for all staff
- Ability to communicate in person and in written form in ways that are clear, direct, and easily understood
Preferred Personal Characteristics & Skills
- Prior experience in retail sales (ideally in the outdoor industry)
- Interest & participation in outdoor sports & activities as well as local area knowledge
- Demonstrated successful managerial experience
