The Blackbird marks a genuine evolution in climbing shoe technology. SCARPA's first shoe built with a carbon-reinforced Pebax® midsole, it bridges a gap that climbers have long worked around: the tradeoff between edge support and all-day wearability. The result is a shoe that holds its position on micro-edges without forcing you to size down to get there.

The construction pairs a rigid carbon fiber platform underfoot with a soft, responsive structure above — a combination that delivers precision where you need it and comfort where you don't. A wraparound cord closure keeps the fit locked and consistent rep after rep, while the Alcantara® heel with integrated heel cup delivers reliable containment for hooking sequences without the pressure points that plague stiffer shoes.

We carry the Blackbird because it earns it. This is one of the more thoughtfully engineered shoes to come out of SCARPA in recent memory, and availability is genuinely limited — only a handful of specialty retailers were selected to carry it. If it's in your size, we'd encourage you to move on it.

Sizing

The Blackbird uses SCARPA's European sizing system. Because Euro sizes increment in 6.6mm steps versus 8.4mm for US sizes, they offer a more precise fit for technical climbing footwear. We recommend consulting the chart below before ordering. Unlike mountaineering boots, climbing shoes are typically sized for performance fit — downsizing is not required with this model.
