There are 129 named passes at, or above, 12000 feet that you may choose to cross, and this guide contain detailed information of eighty-one of them. Sally Varner chose these passes because they were not described on other guide books. An appendix containing all the passes organized in alphabetical order and an index of place names make easy work to find the information you will need to plan your excursions over the Rocky Mountains. Maps are not to scale but a great resource never the less. Distances, elevation gains, pass elevation, GPS information and difficulty rate are listed at the beginning of every chapter. Driving directions and trail access are mentioned. Sally made at least one visit to each of these passes, and her experiences are narrated as Sallie’s Hike.
