Trento and Valsugana Rock

For climbers, Arco symbolizes a territory that extends far beyond the administrative boundaries of the municipality, encompassing a vast area described in the eponymous guidebook, which we have proudly published for exactly 20 years. Today, that volume can no longer contain the entire treasure trove of bolted rock faces, so this new edition, dedicated to the area closest to the city of Trento, is born. This new edition, more extensive and comprehensive, establishes this area as independent from nearby Arco.

Establishing this cragging district independent from nearby Arco has allowed us to extend it to the Valsugana, the valley bordering the Lagorai peaks to the south, a historic link between Trento and the Veneto region and Bassano del Grappa.

The guidebook features 64 crags in total, from those with a dozen or so pitches to those with hundreds, from gray limestone to red porphyry to excellent granite. Most of the walls are well-protected with bolts, but there are also some equipped for trad climbing. Both authors are active bolters: some of the crags featured are their own, while others have been rebolted and cleaned by them.
